Elevate your emergency lift phone with our expert elevator services.

1. How long before my emergency lift phones are at risk?

The greater of either;

  • 18 months after your nbn™ ready for service date or
  • July 1st 2017 (if you registered your emergency phone line with the nbn™)

2. Should I update my lift phone technology before the PSTN line (copper wires) are disconnected?

Yes. Ensuring your elevator’s emergency phone lines are meeting Australian lift standard regulations and requirements is essential to remain compliant, and be sure your building does not breach Workplace Health and Safety legislation.

3. How does the DET lift phone technology work?

The DET unit will emulate traditional copper services your lift telephone line has previously operated on. The unit uses Telstra’s cellular network, with an alternative network deployed to ensure the phone is operational 24/7, 365. The DET unit comes standard with twelve hours of battery backup powering the unit in the event of a power failure. The DET service is proactively monitored by our expert lift consultants, with a comprehensive maintenance schedule ensuring the unit is always connected. All included in the monthly bill.

4. How many units do I need if I have multiple lifts?

One DET unit will cover up to four lifts (assuming lifts are not an unusually large distance from each other).

5. How long does an individual unit take to install?

Standard installation of a DET unit will generally take between 1.5 and 2.5 hours.

6. If I require more than one DET unit, will I incur any additional monthly fees?

Yes. Each unit is sold as a service that includes the cost of the unit, installation, maintenance and proactive monitoring.

7. Is the DET unit compatible with communications equipment provided by the major elevator companies?

Yes. The DET unit is compatible with proprietary systems offered by companies such as Kone, Schindler, Otis, and Thyssenkrupp, as well as systems provided by Pixel technologies.

In most cases, existing lift emergency phone lines will not operate reliably in nbn connected premises; the DET unit simply replaces the existing copper wire connection with a cellular connection and is therefore compatible will all telephony infrastructure that exists within elevators.
